: The Pinehurst layout meant for the esteemed US Open championship has received huge praise from famous golfer Luke Donald. The star golfer has expressed great appreciation for the renovated layout & remarked that lack of roughness assured by the court would add on much excitement to the tournament.
“I really love this renovation work & the very fact that USGA is bold enough to play the championship without roughness on court”, stressed the former world #1. “It is quite a genius act on their behalf.”
“Short-cut grass all across the course offers more options. In case you are hitting in the long rough, there is the option to grab lob wedge”, Donald continued with his praise for Pinehurst.
“Here you are getting several options off tee, around greens. I really love what they have done.”
Luke plays with another British Paul Casey & American golfer Harris English. Defending champ Rose (Justin) would be playing with Matt Fitzpatrick & Phil Mickelson. Open champ Phil finished joint 2nd at Merion a year back in the sole major that was not won by America.
For the 1st time in 4 years, US Open organizers set aside the lure of placing top 3 world rankers together- which has been a very popular ploy leading to immense hype & packed galleries during earlier US Opens.
Whilst world # 1 Adam Scott & 3rd Watson (Bubba) have been teamed together with Charl Schwartzel, the 2011 Masters champ- world # 2 Swede Stenson would be playing alongwith American golfer Matt Kuchar & English player Lee Westwood.
Sergio Garcia from Spain plays would be bidding for his 1st major golf title alongside Aussie player Jason Day & American golfer Brandt Snedeker.
3 of the youngest stars- Rickie Fowler, Hideki Matsuyama & Jordan Spieth have been grouped together.
