Just like other sports stars are fans of golf, golfers are also fans of other sports and it is no different for Jason Dufner, PGA Tour pro, who recently in a one on one conversation, addressed a number of issues such as the Detroit Pistons’ move downtown and the Michigan vs. Ohio football game.
Since finishing in the season ending tour championship tied in eighth, Dufner has taken time off the game. The Cleveland born who spent most of his teen years before heading out to Auburn, earned his first Tour win in 2012 at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans.
Since then, he has added three more titles, which includes the 2013 PGA championship. He was also a part of the Ryder Cup team in 2012, were he went on to post a 3-1 record at the Medinah Country club.
When asked if he had ever played golf in Michigan, and what he thinks about the courses down there, Dufner had replied saying,
“I haven’t played a lot (in Michigan). I played the old Buick Open up in Flint a couple times, when I was just starting the Tour. I wasn’t very good back then but I was fortunate to play it a little bit.
“I know there’s some great courses in Detroit, like Oakland Hills, obviously, and some others. But I haven’t played much up there. I’m sure they’re very passionate about it for the 6 or 7 months where the weather’s good enough to play.”
He also talked about the NBA which he says is his favorite sport, and about the Pistons who he felt have not been in pretty good shape since the last 10 years or thereabout. He however believes that there move downtown to share an arena with the Red Wings could spark some new interest.
