Dustin Johnson is a professional golfer from the United States of America who is currently a member of the US PGA Tour.
He has been credited for being one of the longest drivers on Tour, where he had the third highest distance statistics for three years in a row between 2009 and 2011 and has also ranked inside the top five in each of his last five seasons on the course. He has been a regular feature in the top five of the Official Golf World Rankings and reached a career high position of fourth in 2011.
Having turned professional in 2007, he managed to earn his US PGA Tour card the very next year when he finished in 14th place in the qualifying school. His first win on the US PGA Tour came in the end of his first season as a rookie when he secured victory at the Turning Stone Resort Championship and added another win the following month with the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am.
In 2011, Dustin Johnson earned his best finish at a major championship event so far when he finished at second place at the Royal Saint George in The Open Championship.
Johnson has been a highly controversial figure in the golfing circle and in August 2014, he made the announcement that he would be taking the rest of the year off in order to focus on personal challenges. Soon, reports began to emerge that that he had been suspended by the US PGA Tour for six months for testing positive for cocaine.
However, Dustin Johnson dismissed those reports and claimed he had never taken drugs. He made his return to golf in 2015 and immediately earned his first win of the season with a victory at the World Golf Championship – Cadillac Championship in Florida.
