Jim Furyk is an inspirational golfer when there are high handicappers. Jim’s unconventional swing comes across with fans throughout the country – he does not have the classic swing like Tiger Woods, Zach Johnson, Phil Mickelson and Rory McIlroy, but something more akin to what you’d see at your local golf club on a Saturday morning.
This is something that offers golf fans some inspiration. For several years, Jim has been one of the top golf professionals even though he does not have a perfect golf swing. But Jim has to do a whole lot more than just inspire amateur golfers. He really needs to get his form back on track.
In 2010 season, Jim won 3 tournaments, and he won over $ 4.8 million on tour. He was a really safe bet to make it into the top 10 on any tournament, and was competing for big prizes most weeks. Somehow he was able to defeat all those with classic swings shots much of the time.
But after 2010, Furyk has really struggled. He was unable to find his game in 2011, and he slumped badly. Not only did he not win a tournament, he did not even finish in the top three. His event earnings went down to US$ 1.5 million and his game just disappeared.
Jim did better in 2012 season, but there was still a problem. Last year, he won US$ 3.6 million, ended 2nd twice and third one time. He also had 8 top ten finishes, and was rumoured to be in talks about getting a new sponsor in the form of online betting company Unibet.
However, in spite of all these successes, there is a lack of confidence which has been shaking his game for 2 years. Jim needs to have his confidence back to do well in 2013 season.
